Jimmy Cliff -The Harder They Come (1972)

Now, I am so far away from my plan. Tom Waits’ contribution to the medium of “the soundtrack” just made it essential that I remind myself of the genius and power of Jimmy Cliff’s take on “The Harder They Come” from the movie of the same name.

The bit where he sings this is perfect, transcending a film that is otherwise pretty forgettable. Without the film, this would merit a place in any hall of fame; with the film, a no brainer.

“Well they tell me of a pie up in the sky, waiting for me when I die ….”.
