Tom Waits – Jockey Full of Bourbon (1985)

Now look, I have clearly been distracted from this evening’s task at hand. I had a plan of almost Teutonic efficiency laid out and the small matter of Elvis Presley and a wonderful dinner (and a spot of wine) have been enough to distract me. As such, following the elemental power of Big Mama Thornton, I just have to post the equally wonderful “Jockey Full of Bourbon” by Tom Waits. It is a key track on the wonderful Rain Dogs LP (along with Downtown Train) but is utterly peerless when featuring in the soundtrack to the low budget classic movie “Down by Law”.
