Arthur Russell – That’s Us/Wild Combination (1986-1990)
Arthur Russell died of AIDS aged 40 in 1992 and left a whole series of wonderful complete and incomplete recordings. A cellist and composer, he was a key player in the New York dance scene of the late 1970s and through the 1980s; he had links with a whole bunch of no-wave, mutant disco, avant garde types. This track was released on the “Calling Out of Context” album on Rough Trade in 2004. Recorded sometime between 1986 and 1990 and probably unfinished; it’s a beautiful piece.
