The Palace Brothers – Idle Hands Are the Devil’s Playthings (1993)

Now, some of you might be expecting this to be another Royal Wedding related post featuring William and Harry in some nightmarish, Youtube captured, T-Mobile promoting, jape. If so, sorry.

Instead, what we have here is a great track from the Palace Brothers’ debut LP, “There is No-One What Will Take Care of You”, released in 1993 on Big Cat Records. This was the first incarnation of Will Oldham before he became Bonnie ‘Prince’ Bill and various other monikers (although never actually Monica, surprisingly).

With the sun shining and the porch door open, you can’t beat a spot of banjo based indie noodling. Features a few fellas from the excellent Slint as well.

Intriguing video from Youtube as well.

Big grin :-) What an odd but engaging voice. Only have An Arrow Through the Bitch but I do rather like it.

That is also a great EP! There is also a great track around this time called “Ohio River Boat Song” by the Palace Brothers.
