Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Love Letter (2001)
Having just swapped a message or two with an old friend in Australia, I felt honour bound to celebrate the often unheralded work of bands from Down Under.
Now, we all know that Australia’s favourite (and best) recording artist is, of course, Rolf Harris (official website here). They worship the bearded polymath down there. In due course, his seminal “Two Little Boys” might get an outing on this blog and, if so, it will not leave a dry eye in the house (alternatively, I might go for the excellent Splodgenessabounds cover version).
Nick Cave is in many ways a direct heir to the Harris throne in that, err, he is an Australian and also sometimes doesn’t leave a dry eye in the house. To back up this convincing case. I submit the wonderful “Love Letter” from 2001′s excellent “No More Shall We Part” LP.
LP version then a couple of nice live clips from Youtube. Only a little, judicious, use of the old “wobble board” could have improved this.
Can you tell what it is yet?
ahh a beautiful choice. and proof even an aussie can do art!
