Elvis Costello and the Attractions – (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding (1978)
I just love Elvis Costello and I could have posted any of two dozen songs from Alison, Oliver’s Army, (I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea, I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down, I Want You, etc, etc.
So, it’s rather odd that I kick off with Elvis performing a cover version of Nick Lowe’s classic “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding”. In my view, the definitive version of a perfect song relying on a simple guitar riff to die for.
Not actually on the origjnal Armed Forces LP.
A video from 1978 then a simply unebelievable live version from David (Elvis) Letterman in 2003 … You have to check the Letterman video, one of the great performances!
