The Modern Lovers – Pablo Picasso (1976)
One of the best tracks off one of the best LPs of all time.
The Modern Lovers eponymous first LP, penned by Jonathan Richman, was a long time in the making; finally seeing the light of day in 1976. Every song is a stone cold classic and, in due course, I will have to post “Hospital”, “Roadrunner”, “Dignified and Old”, “Old World”, and the rest.
But, following the previous post featuring The Keggs (here) and my proposition that they were the blueprint for Jonathan Richman – I just have to furnish some supporting evidence. “Pablo Picasso” is Exhibit A. Mesmerising rhythm and some of the best lyrics of all time.
Well, some people try to pick up girls and get called asshole
This never happened to Pablo Picasso ….
