My Bloody Valentine – Drive It All Over Me (1988)

My five followers will know that I’m just a sucker for a killer B Side – ideally, one that is also not released on an LP; just to make it even more wilfully obscure.

I’m also a sucker for a band who knows when to stop – leaving behind a perfect back catalogue.

The song, “Drive It All Over Me”, meets the first criteria and the band My Bloody Valentine the latter. By happy coincidence, this is one of their tracks. What were the chances of that?

Recorded in 1988 and part of the “You Made Me Realise” EP – a wall of guitar and bass and a vocal surfing the waves of sound.

Perfect pop music.

This EP is probably my favourite ‘single’ of all time.

And the Roundhouse gig is probably the loudest thing I have ever been at. And possibly the greatest.
