Gil Scott-Heron – The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (1970/71)
An all time classic and one of the most influential records ever made (check here for some details).
The original, largely spoken version of the track (with minimal percussion) appeared on Scott-Heron’s debut LP Small Talk at 125th and Lenox released in 1970. A better version (in my view), with a full band, appeared as the B-Side of the “Home Is Where The Hatred Is” single released in 1971.
You choose, the band version and then the spoken original!
