Camper Van Beethoven – Take The Skinheads Bowling (1985)

Having dipped in the indie-rock genre this evening, I just needed to hear one of the foundation stones of the genre. I just love this record. 

From the not very well selling LP “Telephone Free Landslide Victory”, I present the epoch defining “Take the Skinheads Bowling”.

Great tune and great lyrics.

I understand that John Peel was slightly perturbed by the lyric “I want to lick your knees”. Fortunately, this was well out of his system before PJ Harvey arrived on the scene  ….. (of which, more later on this blog).

Wonderful LP version and then a couple of fantastic more recent live versions .. as good as it gets!
