Patrik Fitzgerald – Irrelevant Battles (1978)

One of the LPs that made the biggest impression on me was the “20 of Another Kind” compilation released in 1979 (details here). For a while, it was on constant rotation on the school bus (!) bringing together classic tracks by Plastic Bertrand, The Jam, Otway and Barrett, The Cure, Sham 69, etc.

One track that pretty much disappeared forever was the wonderful “Irrelevant Battles” by Patrik Fitzgerald – the second track on the “Paranoid Ward” 7″ EP released on Small Wonder in 1978.

A caustic take on tree huggers and do gooders the world over:

You’re too busy fighting your irrelevant battles to see what’s going on in your own backyard
