Husker Du – Books About UFOs (1985)
Okay, the weekend starts here pop pickers!
One of the greatest records by one of the greatest bands of all time! Taken from their fourth LP, Husker Du perfect the buzzsaw guitar, wall of sound, pop combination to hit the rock’n'roll heights.
Bob Mould had some much darker times to come (“59 Times The Pain” and “Hardly Getting Over It” are records of enormous power) but this “ditty” was written and sung by another key player, the drummer, Grant Hart.
So Husker Du in whimsical mode – still outshines 99% of what has happened since!
Walking down a sunny street to the library
Checking out the latest books on outer space
The album track then a very rare live take!

So many to choose from…maybe some Bob Mould solo stuff to come ?- always had a particular soft spot for “Sunspots” off Workbook – one perhaps for my guitar practice. Or I guess maybe I should just start my own bloody blog eh !
Probably my favourite Bob Mould song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcWgGDVL6Xc&feature=related
Awesome song – Reminds me of being a teenager and bombing around in my old orange Austin Metro! Caught by the (guitar) fuzz
