David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights – Seemingly Stranded (1997)
My half dozen followers will know that I just love New Zealand’s Flying Nun record label.
I’ve already posted tracks by The Clean (here), The Verlaines (here) and The Chills (here).
These are all fantastic tracks and there is plenty more to come (why nothing yet by The Bats I hear you chorus).
However, I want to suggest that “Seemingly Sranded” by David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights deserves a place in the record collection of any discerning pop picker. A founder member of The Clean, David Kilgour has released several wonderful LPs. This track transcends all time and distance.
Relentlessly strummed acoustic guitar, nice backward processed electric guitar, keyboards and a timeless lyric.
I caught another glimpse of you, running round
An indiepop masterpiece!
