So, pop pickers, let’s go 30 years back in time to check what was Number 2 in the hit parade in late 1981.

Er, oh bugger, I appear to have stumbled upon an 8 and a half minute performance piece by the future Mrs Lou Reed. What were the chances of that?

Stunning record.

Inspired by Massenet and the Iran hostage crisis of 1979-1981 and with a clear nod to the minimalism of Steve Reich and Phillip Glass.
