Mississippi John Hurt – Stack ‘O’ Lee (1928)
One of the greatest pieces of early country blues. Recorded in 1928, the guitar on this chimes while Mississippi John Hurt recounts the classic Stagger Lee, Stack ‘O’ Lee, etc story. The guitar always reminds me of Nico’s beautiful take on Jackson Browne’s sublime “These Days”
Unsurprisingly, there is no video for this song (!), but this should do you all nicely ..
