New Bad Things – I Suck (1993)

Possibly the slackest record ever made. An utter indie, lo-fi, classic from the USA.

Inevitably showcased in the UK by John Peel.

A slow rant about not having any friends, or a girlfriend, or a job. Followed by an extended complaint about Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground. Elvis and John Wayne. The latter two using a neat lift from Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power”.

No, really.

“I Suck” appeared twice on different 7″ singles – both versions incredibly rare ( I have both …). A version subsequently appeared on their LP but it was radically different and nowhere near as good.

This YouTube link contains the track being played from John Peel’s Festive 50 of 1993.

I just know I’m going to be inundated with crazy money offers for my vinyl …. the answer is no!
