The Bobby Fuller Four – Let Her Dance (1965)

The Bobby Fuller Four are probably most famous for their fantastic cover version of The Crickets’ “I Fought The Law”.

However, the best record they ever made was a Bobby Fuller original “Let Her Dance” which anticipates some of the bittersweet harmonies subsequently perfected by The Ramones.

Bobby Fuller died at the age of 24 in 1966 only a few months after “I Fought The Law” made the US Top Ten. He was found dead outside his apartment in Hollywood after apparently inhaling exhaust fumes. The autopsy seems to have been unable to  determine whether an accident or suicide was the ultimate cause.

A classic pop lyric.

Well, there she goes with a brand new love affair
Dancing with him like she don’t even care
Well, let her dance with him
Let her dance all night long

The original version and then a grainy live(ish) cut from US television.
