So difficult to choose which Neil Young track to post next …. I have previously posted the perfect “My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)” here.
I could have gone for Heart of Gold or Everyone Knows This is Nowhere or Cortez The Killer or Powderfinger or Ambulance Blues or I’m the Ocean or Change Your Mind or … you get the picture.
But, in the end, it just had to be Like A Hurricane. An all time rock classic taken from the American Stars ‘N’ Bars LP released in 1977. The guitar on this is simply some of the best ever recorded.
Worth noting that the hurricane metaphor refers to the eye of the storm and not the accompanying gales:
You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
I suspect that an alternative metaphor along the lines of “You are like a hurricane, you have a lot of wind” may not have sold as well; though I might be wrong.
The LP version then the Live Rust version from 1979.
