The Twilight Singers – Love (2000)

There’s a possibility that I will be seeing the Afghan Whigs in a few weeks and I realised that I needed to catch up with what Greg Dulli has been up to since his extraordinary run of form in the mid to late 1990s!

As such, I’ve filled in the gaps in my Twilight Singers catalogue and, while the quality is not always relentlessly top drawer,  there are enough highlights in there to make me wish I’d heard a few tracks many years ago.

“Love” from the debut Twilight Singers album Twilight As Played By The Twilight Singers is a great example. Mr D weaves his usual verbal magic around a simple but affecting piano motif to create a stone cold classic. Perfect!

At 3:15, I heard you leave

Where did you go?

Were you alone?
